Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy is the use of exercise to develop, maintain and restore the maximum amount of movement and functional ability possible in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by injury, disease, or the process of aging.  Physical therapy is a return to function.

Post Operative Rehabilitation

If you have recently had surgery performed by an orthopedic surgeon or neurosurgeon, you may have been told that you will require physical therapy.  Physical therapy is essential in order to return to normal activities of daily lifting, recreational activities and gainful employment after surgical intervention.   At Rebound Physical Therapy, we believe it is essential to follow physician protocol regarding your operative procedure.  Post operative rehabilitation involves modalities for pain and edema control, the restoration of range of motion through the affected area and strengthening of the affected area.  If your physician has recommended physical therapy after an operative procedure, please contact Rebound Physical Therapy and one of our trained physical therapists can answer any questions you may have.

Theraband

Theraband is a large piece of a rubber band that is available in various levels of resistance. It is used as a tool during strengthening activities for the musculature of the upper extremity, lower extremity, and core. Theraband is a useful tool as it is easy to work with and can be stored in a small area, making it an excellent choice to utilize with a home exercise program.

Work Conditioning

Often, after an individual is out of work for an extended period of time, their overall conditioning level deteriorates to such a degree that  they do not have enough physical strength to perform their work activities.  Work conditioning involves a supervised exercise regimen by a physical therapist that is geared toward assisting an individual to meet the physical demands of their previous occupation.  Work conditioning employs resistance strength training and work simulation in association with instruction in proper body mechanics.  If you have suffered a work-related injury and your medical care provider has recommended work conditioning, please contact Rebound Physical Therapy and one of our trained physical therapists can answer any questions you may have.

Women’s Health/Pelvic Floor Therapy

Physical Therapist Megan Houser has developed a new Women’s Health specialty program at our North Olmsted location that includes, but is not limited to, pelvic floor dysfunction. Recent studies indicate up to 57% of middle-aged, post-menopausal women suffer from urinary incontinence and that number grows to 75% of older women in nursing homes. Research has shown that individuals with incontinence have altered pelvic floor muscle contractions. Physical therapists specialize in evaluating and training these muscles that are weak, lack appropriate length and/or demonstrate altered firing patterns. If you struggle with incontinence, call our North Olmsted office and let us help you address the problem and potentially avoid surgery.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care uses joint manipulation to provide immediate relaxation and pain reduction.  This treatment is considered extremely safe in most patients and has significant evidence to demonstrate its effectiveness in treating lower back pain and other join ailments. If you suffer from headaches, joint or muscle pain, or chronic back pain, please contact Rebound Physical Therapy in Lakewood to schedule an appointment with our board certified chiropractor.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture makes use of very thin needles to decrease pain and sensitivity in targeted areas.  Acupuncture is especially useful because it is a drug free means of reducing pain which means patients don’t have to worry about possible side effects.  If you suffer from fibromyalgia, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome or other pain, cramping, or anxiety, contact Rebound Physical Therapy in Lakewood to schedule an appointment with a board certified acupuncturist.
